SiteAdvisor

Here’s a neat Firefox extension: SiteAdvisor. Watches what you’re browsing, throws an alert up if you’re looking at something sketchy — with malware, spam, phishing, etc. Also watches Google search results & proactively shows links that might give you trouble.

This is an interesting trend in new extensions for Firefox — lots of out-of-band information about what you’re looking at. First pioneered a while back by Alexa, I suppose. I particularly like the user experience of siteadvisor.

Unwatchable

Okay, with this latest episode of 24, I’m just about prepared to call it unwatchable. Ugh.

Big in Japan

Check out this page:

イベント情報 – Mozilla Japan 第 2 回セミナー

it’s a seminar/couple of talks that Mike & I are giving for Mozilla Japan next week. Sort of tickles me.

Here’s a Google translation if you want to read what it says in English (sort of).

Performancing

I’m going to try out this new Firefox extension called Performancing — lives inside the browser & makes it easy to post. I’ve been using ecto and think I like that better for some variety of things, but this may help me blog more. We’ll see.

Garden State

What a great movie! I’d been meaning to watch this Zach Braff (Scrubs) movie for a while now — it’s finally on HBO these days. Kathy & I have been movie-challenged recently — even though Sam sleeps more like a normal person (sort of), we just don’t seem to have the attention span for whole movies.

This one was really, really worth it, though. Sweet, melancholy movie — Zach Braff is terrific, of course, but Natalie Portman is just exceptional. Probably the best I’ve ever seen her. Music was great; story was great.
