This is a new play by McCarthy — I guess it played off Broadway this year. Sort of formula, seems to me. Story of a guy who tries to kill himself, is saved by another guy (who is born again), and they have a conversation about belief. Wasn’t my favorite thing, but I generally don’t like reading plays all that much.

State of Denial, by Bob Woodward
I’ve got a lot of thoughts about this, none of them good. Kathy & I just watched a show on PBS about Dr. Seuss (Independent Lens), though, and I think he said something that’s appropriate. 2 weeks before he died, when asked what slogan he’d like to leave for the US, here’s what he said:
“We can and we’ve got to do better than this.”

Man, I’m lucky to have some very smart and very articulate friends. Here’s a really thoughtful post from Diego on a talk he just gave about how to be more intentional about innovation and the value of design (and how it’s difficult/impossible to prove linkage between design & success).
