hey adam --

i like my pearl, too, but it doesn't change the way i think about devices as much as the iphone does. one interesting thing is that i don't think my cell phone is my most important device anymore -- i live more and more of my life through the internet, which i think is changing the way i think about what i carry around.

and no, you can't read e-mail in widescreen mode, but i don't think there's a display issue with e-mail in vertical mode. the screen resolution means i can see more of my e-mail than on any other device so far, and it makes a big difference.

I can't believe you got an iPhone so quickly! I think I underestimated your appetite for risk with your most important device (cell phone). :)

I think I'm going to wait a bit for iPhone 1.1 or 1.2. I was late to the Blackberry Pearl, but very happy with it now.

Can you read email purely in the widescreen mode to solve the display issue? Would love to see a demo :)

hey gentry -- that answers it, i suppose. that pretty much sucks. gotta figure out what to do about that. int'l data roaming on my blackberry was one of the best things about it, because it made traveling pretty painless. wi-fi alone isn't really gonna cut it, i don't think

>#1 next question is whether or not my $69.99 blackberry world traveler data plan will work or not — it’s important, as it gives me unlimited international roaming.

Sorry to say that right now AT&T is jacking biz customers: "NOTE: iPhone is not compatible with any other data plans from AT&T ... Customers who activate an iPhone will automatically lose their international roaming capabilities or revert to pay-per-use rates for international roaming."

from <a href="http://www.wireless.att.com/businesssupport/knowledgeBase.do?content=KB80815.html" rel="nofollow">this</a> painful article...

Good post. The iPhone has been a long time coming - <a href="http://paullevinson.blogspot.com/2007/06/iphone-arrives.html" rel="nofollow">it was predicted in 1979</a>. Nice to see it finally here...
